Easing into the New Year…
In my functional medicine and health coaching practice I help women balance their hormones naturally. The main focus for women I work with are not the “female” hormone issues like pms and hot flashes (don’t get me wrong, they are important!), but the other issues, like fatigue, insomnia, weight gain, sluggish metabolism, low mood and gut issues. These are the thing that really can affect quality of life, how you show up in life!
I have been thinking about this new year coming and the energy around this time. To me there’s an “energy” of an ending and a beginning.
What would it be like if we could EASE into the New Year, with no pressure, no judgement and no unrealistic expectations?
Those “unrealistic expectations” can also be those pesky new years resolutions that are so famous that we have all done. You know, the ones that may not last through the first few months of the year, and then we feel we have “failed” yet again?
How about these words instead:
- Ease
- No Judgement
- Allowing
- Perspective
- Feeling more in tune with “you”, and what you want you create with your health and your life.
How do you want to Ease into the New Year?
Instead of making hard and fast resolutions, get out your journal and spend some time with you (I have my time planned with just me to do this too!).
Here are some questions you can think about or journal on:
Take Inventory- where are you now? what are your health and hormones like now, and what would you like to change? Are you happy or proud of any healthy habits?
Would you like more of this:
- More energy
- Better sleep
- Be at a healthy weight
- Get rid of belly fat
- Have a good stable mood
- Enjoy exercise
- Be happy
- Good digestion
- No bloating
- Know how to eat for your body
- Have balanced hormones, no pms or hot flashes!!
- Be able to do this NATURALLY
Decide what you REALLY WANT and what you are willing to do to get there? Here are more ideas to journal on:
- How much time are you willing to spend getting where you want to go?
- Are you willing to invest money in getting help and not guessing and doing it yourself?
- Are you wanting or needing to change your eating habits?
- How about your exercise habits?
- What about supplements?
- What about energy, sleep, mood or weight? What do you desire?
- What’s your stress level and also your self-care level (be honest here)
Easing into the New Year looks exactly like this. You don’t have to have all the pieces in place, you just need to know WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.
Then, you can work on the HOW. So on January 1, give yourself the gift of EASE, of thinking, journaling, and really feeling into what you want, and what can be realistic and sustainable. Get the energy of what you want to feel like, look like, and be like.
Haven’t we all had enough stress in the last couple of years, to not put pressure on ourselves!?!
